Q&A – Personal Bank Account?

Many of you like the questions and answers on this blog. I just found another one from ‘richardwales79′ who asks

Hi I have just moved in with my girlfriend & she has not got a very good credit rating & I have agreed that she can come on as a joint person on my bank account so that she gets the same benefits as me. Will the bank allow me to put her on & how do I go about it? Thanks

Answer: You two should have one joint account for household expenses but keep individual personal accounts for personal expenses (that way she won’t come begging to you every time she wants to buy a new pair of shoes). Also help to teach her how to be smarter with her money. My boyfriend has helped me out a lot by showing me the best ways to rearrange my finances so I can pay off my debts and increase my credit rating faster. My credit score (FICO) just went from 647 to 722 with the advice he gave me.Also I’d recommend she read Suze Orman’s new book “Women and Money”. Lots of good advice in there.
